Reminder – Film 2700 Participation Assignment!

Tonal Montage - Battleship Potemkin

Hi all,

Remember to tweet about Soviet montage before class tomorrow (2/20/14) to receive participation credit! Much like our last assignment, I encourage you to post links to video clips, articles, still images, or interesting facts related to the movement.

If you are in the 8:00 am class, use the hashtags #smontage8 and #ec2700

If you are in the 11:00 am class, use the hashtags #smontage11 and #ec2700

Happy tweeting and I will see you tomorrow!

Hi all,

Word has come down from on high that the administration WILL NOT be adding any make up days to the spring calendar to make up for our recent snow days. As a result, I have (again) made some minor changes to the weekly schedule. Please familiarize yourselves with these changes. In the meantime, here are some important points you should be aware of:

1. Although we did not meet last week, you are still responsible for the reading. There will be questions on the first test related to these materials.
2. Due to time constraints, my lecture on Tuesday (2/18/14) will attempt to cover all of German expressionism in one class. Needless to say, you will be presented with a very superficial overview; so again, it is important that you complete the assigned readings in order to gain a more thorough understanding of the movement.
3. The first exam will (still) take place on Thursday, February 27th. I will be posting a study guide (via Google Docs) on or before this Thursday (2/20/14).
4. In keeping with the last set of schedule changes, the first presentation groups will present on Soviet montage on Tuesday, February 25th. This means that Soviet montage groups should send me a link to their project on or before Tuesday, February 18th.

My hope is that we have seen the last of the snow and no more changes will be required.

Warm thanks to both of my Film 2700 classes for being flexible and responsible in the face of these scheduling challenges!

1/21/14 My Apologies to the 8:00 am Film 2700 Class!!!

Hi gang,

My apologies for having to cancel our class meeting this morning. Unfortunately, I was stuck on 75 after four lanes had been shut down due to an accident investigation.

Still, no worries. Just stick to the schedule of readings outlined on the syllabus and we will play catch up on Thursday.

Thanks for your understanding!
